Advanced Comprehensive Eye Examinations
Our eye examinations go far beyond a simple sight test. We allow a full 60 minutes for every appointment, giving us the time to carry out a detailed assessment of your eye health and answer any questions without ever feeling rushed.
Using advanced diagnostic technology, including OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), retinal photography, and visual field testing, our optometrists can detect a wide range of ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic changes, often well before any symptoms appear.
We also run a dedicated dry eye clinic, offering thorough assessments and advanced treatments including BlephEx and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) expression, helping to relieve discomfort and improve long-term eye health.
Every examination is tailored to you. We take the time to understand your vision, your daily routine, and any concerns you might have, so the advice we give genuinely fits your life, whether that’s long hours at a screen, driving, hobbies, or simply wanting to see your best.
We offer both NHS and private examinations at Albrighton Opticians, with no rushing and no one-size-fits-all approach. Our team is friendly, patient, and happy to explain every step, making sure you leave feeling informed and confident about your eye health. And our care doesn’t end at the door. We’re here for follow-up questions, adjustments, and ongoing support whenever you need us.
What We Use to Examine Your Eyes
OCT Scanning
Optical Coherence Tomography provides a detailed cross-section of the retina, detecting conditions like macular degeneration and glaucoma earlier than ever before.
Retinal Photography
High-resolution images of the back of your eye create a baseline record so changes can be tracked and spotted accurately over time.
Visual Field Testing
Assesses your full field of vision, helping to detect early signs of glaucoma, neurological conditions, and other sight-threatening issues.
Dry Eye Assessment
Our dedicated dry eye clinic offers BlephEx and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) expression treatments to relieve discomfort and improve long-term eye health.
From the test chair to your new frames.
What sets us apart is how closely we link your eye examination with your choice of lenses and frames. The optometrist who carried out your test stays involved in the dispensing process, working alongside our dispensing team to make sure your prescription is translated into eyewear that truly works for you.
This is something often lost in larger or busier practices, where the person who tested your eyes rarely has any input into what you walk away wearing. Your prescription is only part of the picture. The lens design, frame fit, and how it all suits your daily life matter just as much.

How long does an eye examination take?
We book a full 60 minutes for every comprehensive eye examination. This gives us time to carry out a thorough assessment using our advanced diagnostic equipment, answer any questions you have, and discuss your results properly without rushing.
Do you offer NHS eye examinations?
Yes. We provide both NHS and private eye examinations. If you qualify for an NHS-funded test, we’ll let you know during booking. Whether NHS or private, the level of care and the equipment we use is the same.
What diagnostic equipment do you use?
Our practice is equipped with OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), retinal photography, and visual field testing. These let us assess the health of your eyes in detail and detect conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic changes at an early stage.
Do you treat dry eye?
Yes. We run a dedicated dry eye clinic offering thorough assessments and advanced treatments including BlephEx and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) expression, helping to relieve discomfort and improve long-term eye health.
How often should I have an eye test?
For most adults, every two years is recommended. If you have a family history of eye conditions, wear contact lenses, are over 70, or have diabetes, we may suggest more frequent checks. Our Optometrists will always advise based on your individual circumstances.
Which designer brands do you stock?
Our curated collection currently includes Oakley, Armani, Hugo Boss, Carolina Herrera, and Ted Baker. We’re happy to advise on which brand and style will best suit your prescription, face shape, and lifestyle. As an independent practice we are not limited on brands we can access, we can often source frames outside of our in-practice collection. We only stock frames with a reputation for great build quality.
